Molecular characterization of a new abortive infection system (AbiU) from Lactococcus lactic LL51-1
Article Abstract:
A new abortive infection system, Abi U, from a Lactococcus lactis LL51-1 plasmid is described. This is a phage resistance system encoded by the bacterium that can target several stages of phage development, including DNA replication, RNA transcription, protein synthesis, packaging, and morphogenesis.

Surface expression of the conserved C repeat region of streptococcal M6 protein within the Pip bacteriophage receptor of Lactococcus lactis
Article Abstract:
The Pip membrane protein from Lactococcus lactis can increase the production of the streptococcal M6 protein on the surface of the bacterium. Lactococcus lactis is considered a potential candidate to use as a streptococcal vaccine to prevent colonization by Streptococcus pyogenes.

Cloning of genomic DNA of Lactococcus lactis that restores phage sensitivity to an unusual bacteriophage sk1-resistant mutant
Article Abstract:
A section of DNA from a strain of Lactococcus lactis that is sensitive to bacteriophages can restore phage sensitivity in one that is resistant. The DNA is homologous with lactococcal temperate phage and probably interacts with components of the resistance mechanism.
