Biotransformation of malachite green by the fungus Cunninghamella elegans
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the filamentous fungus Cunninghamella elegans ATCC 36112. Results indicate that this fungus metabolizes the triphenylmethane dye malachite green with the first-order rate constant.

Molecular cloning, nucleotide sequence, and expression of genes encoding a polycyclic aromatic ring dioxygenase from Mycobacterium sp. strain PYR-1
Article Abstract:
Three genes from Mycobacterium sp. strain PYR-1 encoding a dioxygenase were subcloned and expressed in Escherichia coli using the pBAD/ThioFusion system. This enzyme is involved in degrading polycyclic hydrocarbons.

Biotransformation of fluorene by the fungus Cunninghamella elegans
Article Abstract:
Cunninghamella elegans ATCC 36112 metabolizes fluorene, a tricyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. The oxidation of both aliphatic and aromatic rings occurs in detoxification of chlorine by C. elegans. This is because hydroxylated intermediates of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAMS) are less toxic than the parent compound.
