Monogenic inheritance of apomixis in two Hieracium species with distinct developmental mechanisms
Article Abstract:
Apomixis and its mongenic inheritance has been studied in two Hieracium species with distinct developmental mechanisms. Significance of data relative to current theories on the associative link between gametophytic apomixis and polyploidy is discussed. Most of the genus Hieracium members are apomicts, forming predominantly asexual seed. The progeny in the two cases considered inherit apomixis as a dominant, monogenic trait that can be transferred by both haploid and diploid male gametes.

Population genetic structure of a colonising, triploid weed, Hieracium lepidulum
Article Abstract:
Hieracium lepidulum is an invasive weed in New Zealand, which colonizes a diverse range of habitats including forests, pine plantations and grasslands. The breeding system and the population genetic structure of Hieracium lepidulum is explained to understand the evolutionary processes associated with invasions.

Crosses between sexual and apomictic dandelions (Taraxacum): the inheritance of apomixis, I
Article Abstract:
Results show that all apomictic hybrids are capable of partial seed-set and segregation. Data also indicate that differences between triploid and tetraploid hybrids in apomixis is due to their origins from pollen grains of different ploidy.
