Spatial genetic structure of two sympatric neotropical palms with contrasting life histories
Article Abstract:
The spatial genetic structure of two neotropical dioecious palm species of the same tree population called Chamaedorea tepejilote and Chamaedorea elatior is studied to evaluate the influence of life history traits on the extent of genetic isolation by distance. Results obtained from both species reveal that the spatial genetic structure within populations is influenced by seed dispersal, life cycle mortality, overlapping generations and contrasting methods of mating and reproduction.

Estimating dispersal from short spatial autocorrelation
Article Abstract:
The integration of the theoretical results that maximize robustness and flexibility in the use of short distance autocorrelation is presented as a means to estimate Sewall Wright's neighborhood size, or the total variance in dispersal distances. Empirical guidelines that focus on Moran's l-statistics for diploid genotypes converted to allele frequencies, are developed and extended to or compared with several other approaches.

Clonal and spatial genetic structure in Eurya emarginata (Theaceae)
Article Abstract:
Clonal and spatial genetic structure have been studied in Eurya emarginata (Theaceae). It was found that of 239 individuals mapped and sampled in Korea on a pine forest hillside that the frequency of clones was 0.377. The mean clone-pair distance was very large. Genetic patch width was a minimum 24 m. The plant lives in a narrow coastal range in China and in southern parts of Korea and Japan.
