Monopolar attachment of sister kinetochores at meiosis 1 requires casein kinase 1
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to show that the monopolin subunit Mam1 binds tightly to Hrr25, a highly conserved casein kinase 1 [delta]/[epsilon] (CK1[delta]/[epsilon]), and recruits it to meiosis 1 centromeres. The result data demonstrate that Mam1 binds directly to Hrr25's kinase domain and indicate that Hrr25 associates with Csm1/Lrs4 indirectly, via Mam1's interaction with Csm1.

Kinetochore orientation in mitosis and meiosis
Article Abstract:
A review of the advance in understanding how kinetochores are properly placed onto the chromosome and how their interaction with the spindle is regulated is detailed. The major point of contact between spindle microtubules and chromosomes are the kinetochores and their orientation in meiosis I shows particular features.

The kinetochore protein Moa1 enables cohesion-mediated monopolar attachment at Meiosis l
Article Abstract:
Meiosis resembles mitosis but uses a unique reductional nuclear division to allow the production of haploid gametes from diploid cells. This fundamental reduction step requires sister kinetochores to attach to microtubules so that maternal and paternal chromosomes are segregated.
