Two-stage mechanism for activation of the DNA replication checkpoint kinase Cds1 in fission yeast
Article Abstract:
The DNA replication checkpoint is a complex signal transduction pathway, present in all eukaryotic cells that function to maintain genomic integrity and cell viability when DNA replication is perturbed and in Schizosaccharomyces pombe the major effector of the replication checkpoint is the protein kinase Cds1. The two-stage activation mechanism for the replication checkpoint is reported which allows for rapid activation with a high signal-to-noise ratio.

Molecular anatomy and regulation of a stable replisome at a paused eukaryotic DNA replication fork
Article Abstract:
A method is described for inducing prolonged pausing of forks at protein barriers assembled at unique sites on a yeast chromosome, to examine for the first time the effects of pausing upon replisome integrity. The result shows that paused and stalled eukaryotic replisomes resemble each other but are regulated differently.
