Multiple CMS--restorer gene polymorphism in gynodioecious Plantago coronopus
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to show that two new cytoplasmic (CMS)-restorer polymorphisms exist in the gynodioecious species Plantago coronopus, in addition to the two that are already known, which makes four CMS--restorer systems at the species level. It is observed that all new CMS type show a multilocus system for male fertility restoration, in which both recessive and dominant restorer alleles occur.

Estimating levels of inbreeding using AFLP markers
Article Abstract:
The amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers are employed to determine the inbreeding coefficient of an individual. The approach is found to be extremely accurate and effective and hence can be easily employed for studying the correlations between heterozygosity and fitness.

Recent degeneration of an old duplicated flowering gene in Brassica nigra
Article Abstract:
Gene and genome duplications play a major role in the evolution of plant species. Two copies of the flowering time gene Constans (COa and COb) are identified in the Brassica nigra genome, which is highly replicated as a result of ancient polyploidization events.
