Natural genetic transformation of Pseudomonas stutzeri in a non-sterile soil
Article Abstract:
Natural transformation of the soil bacterium Pseudomonas stutzeri JM300 in a non-sterile brown earth microcosm was investigated. Purified DNA was introduced in the microcosm and the non-adsorbed DNA was washed out with soil extract and then the soil was charged with competent cells. Findings showed that DNA was released from the cells, adsorbed to the soil material and then taken up by recipient cells. Competent cells of P. stutzeri were able to gain entry and take up DNA bound on soil particles in the presence of microorganisms and DNases indigenous to the soil.

The potential for intraspecific horizontal gene exchange by natural genetic transformation: sexual isolation among genomovars of Pseudomonas stutzeri
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on Pseudomonas stutzeri genomovars. The role of natural genetic transformation among these genomovars from Pseudomonas stutzeri has been investigated, and the authors report the observed sexual isolation from other pseudomonad species.

DNA restriction is a barrier to natural transformation in Pseudomonas stutzeri JM300
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on intra- and interspecific chromosomal DNA transfer. The authors demonstrate that restriction during natural transformation acts at presynaptic stages of transorming DNA.
