Notch function in the vasculature: insights from zebrafish, mouse and man
Article Abstract:
Studies in zebrafish, mice and humans indicate that cell fate determination in a variety of cell types is regulated by signaling receptors called Notch proteins, which pattern and stabilize vasculature. The established functions for Notch in vascular remodeling and arterial/venous specification and more speculative roles in vascular homeostasis and organ specific angiogenesis are discussed.

A twisted hand: bHLH protein phosphorylation and dimerization regulate limb development
Article Abstract:
The molecular pathogenesis in Saethre-Chotzen syndrome (SCS), ectopic expression of a related basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) protein, Hand2 that brings about phenocopies of limb defects is studied. Findings provide an important link between the misregulation of Twist1 dimerization and the limb phenotypes observed in SCS.

The ARP2/3 complex: Giving plant cells a leading edge
Article Abstract:
The existence of a functional ARP2/3 complex in higher plants is identified. According to studies, it is suggested that there might be unappreciated molecular and cell-biological commonalities between protrusion-mediated motility of animal cells and polarized, expansion-mediated growth of plant cells.
