Molecular epidemiological survey of Listeria monocytogenes in seafoods and seafood-processing plants
Article Abstract:
Seafood may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes according to researchers who isolated the bacterium from patients with food poisoning and in seafood samples from seafood producers in Norway. Enzyme electrophoresis and restriction enzyme analysis showed that patients were infected with identical strains found in seafood.

Potential uptake of Escherichia coli O157:H7 from organic manure into crisphead lettuce
Article Abstract:
The potential for Escherichia coli O157:H7 to be transferred from soil fertilized with contaminated manure to the edible parts of organic crisphead lettuce when seedlings were transplanted into manure-amended soil is investigated. The results suggested that transmission of Escherichia coli O157:H7 from manure to lettuce was not observed when seedlings were transplanted into soil fertilized with manure inoculated with low concentrations of the pathogen.

Occurrence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, V. cholerae, and V. vulnificus in Norwegian blue mussels (Mytilus edulis)
Article Abstract:
Vibrio parahaemolyticus V. cholerae, and V. vulnificus are isolated from 10.3%, 1.0%, and 0.1% of 885 blue mussel samples. The Norwegian food safety authorities (NFSA) funded a 2-year monitoring program covering commercially grown blue mussels, which aimed to assess the occurrence of Vibrio parahaemolytics, V. cholerae, and V. vulnificus in Norwegian blue mussels.
