Ras1 promotes cellular growth in the Drosophila wing
Article Abstract:
The role of Ras1 in regulating cellular growth and proliferation in the Drosophila wing in development has been studied. Ras appears to promote growth in the main. The growth is linked to G1/S progression via cyclin E. Growth upregulation by Ras did not deregulate G2/M progression nor did it deregulate a developmentally regulated cell cycle exit.

Drosophila myc regulates cellular growth during development
Article Abstract:
Drosophila myc, which regulates cellular growth during development, is discussed. The functions of Drosophila (ital) Myc (dMyc) in development have been investigated and it was shown that its loss retards cellular growth. The secreted signal Wingless was shown to pattern growth in the wing primordium by modulating dMyc expression. Patterning signals are linked to cell division by regulating primary targets involved in cellular growth and metabolism.

Oxygen regulation of airway branching in Drosophila is mediated by Branchless FGF
Article Abstract:
Oxygen regulation of airway branching in Drosophila is discussed. It is mediated by Branchless (Bnl) FGF. The manner in which oxygen physiology patterns the fine terminal branches during later plastic phase of tracheal development has been studied. Ramification of the fine terminal branches is variable, regulated by oxygen, and the process is dependent on a local signal or signals from oxygen-starved cells. The same growth factor that patterns major branches in embyrogenesis is at work.
