PKC(sigma) is essential for Dishevelled function in a noncanonical Wnt pathway that regulates Xenopus convergent extension movements
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on protein kinase C involved in Wnt signaling pathway. The authors report the identification of the genes encoding sigma-type protein kinase C in the Xenopus EST databases, and that this protein kinase C sigma regulates the activity and localization of Dishevelled.

Periodic repression by the bHLH factor Hes7 is an essential mechanism for the somite segmentation clock
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on Hes7, a bHLH gene responsible for somitogenesis. The authors demonstrate that Hes7 protein is expressed in a dynamic manner which depends on the proteasome-mediated degradation.

Dynamic expression and essential functions of Hes7 in somite segmentation
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the helix-loop-helix gene Hes7 which encodes a transcriptional repressor. Results indicate that this gene expression oscillates in 2-h cycles in the presomitic mesoderm.
