Paralogs and mutational robustness linked through transcriptional reprogramming
Article Abstract:
A latest study of genome-wide expression patterns and regulatory motif content of paralogous yeast genes suggests that mutational robustness between paralogous genes is achieved through transcriptional reprogramming of one paralog to compensate for the loss of the other. The transcriptional reprogramming mechanism is highly intellectually satisfying as it goes well from statistical patterns uncovered by genome analysis to a precise molecule mechanism.
