Evolutionary conservation of ten microsatellite loci in four species of felidae
Article Abstract:
Short tandem repeat polymorphisms or microsatellites are found among vertebrate genomes. They are also found to be useful in gene mapping because of widespread length polymorphism. Population studies can use the method to analyze ratio proportions. Observations are made on ten microsatellites in domestic cats, Felis catus initially which are conserved in all Felidae such as cheetahs and lions. These microsatellites can be used to assess paternity and genetic diversity.

A comparative analysis of Mhc DRB3 polymorphism in the American bison (Bison bison)
Article Abstract:
Polymerase chain reaction and DNA analysis were employed in the investigation of diversity in the DRB3 locus of the major histocompatibility complex gene in bison, Bison bison. Twenty animals were included in the study population and nine different alleles were found. Comparative studies of these genetic loci between bison and cattle revealed that there is extensive homology in the sequence motif between the two groups.
