Presenilin-dependent ErbB4 nuclear signaling regulates the timing of astrogenesis in the developing brain
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to show that neuregulin 1 (NRG1)-induced presenilin-dependent ErbB4 nuclear signaling regulates the timing of astrogenesis in the developing brain. The results indicate that NRG1 activation of ErbB4 induces the presenilin-dependent release of E41CD and its recruitment to specific promoters, thereby regulating its transcriptional activity.

No rest for REST: REST/NRSF regulation of neurogenesis
Article Abstract:
A study provides insight into the early lineage commitment events during neurogenesis. It demonstrates that regulation of the RE1-silencing transcription factor/neuron-restrictive silencing factor (REST/NRSF) transcriptional repressor plays a fundamental role in the progression of pluripotent cells to lineage-restricted neural progenitors.

CK2 and PML: Regulating the regulator
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to investigate casein kinase 2 (CK2), a kinase associated with cancer promotion, phosphorylates PML protein, which causes senescence and on oncogenic stress, its absence promotes cellular transformation. Tumor establishment can be offset by the pharmacological inhibition of CK-2 induced PML.
