Purification and characterization of a psychrophilic, calcium-induced, growth-phase-dependent metalloprotease from the fish pathogen Flavobacterium psychrophilum
Article Abstract:
The characteristics of a newly isolated metalloenzyme from the fish pathogen Flavobacterium psychrophilum are described. F. psychrophilum protease 1 (Fpp1) is produced under the same conditions that cause disease in fish, including calcium concentration, growth phase of the bacterium, and temperature.

A mutation in Flavobacterium pychrophilum tlpB inhibits gliding motility and induces biofilm formation
Article Abstract:
Flavobacterium psychrophilum is a psychrotrophic, fish pathogenic bacterium belonging to the Cytophaga-Flavobacterium-Bacteroids group. An attempt is made to isolate Tn4351-induced mutants deficient in gliding motility, growth on iron-depleted-media and extracellular proteolytic activity and some of these mutants were affected in only one of these characteristics, whereas others had defects in two or more and Fp523, a mutant deficient in all of these properties is also studied.

Purification and characterization of an extracellular protease from the fish pathogen Yersinia ruckeri and effect of culture conditions on production
Article Abstract:
The identification, purification and characterization of a novel protease, hydrolyzing azocasein from the culture supernatant of the fish pathogen Yersinia ruckeri are described. The protease was observed at the end of the exponential growth phase under various culture conditions and it was repressed by the presence of NH4Cl as well as glucose and other sugars in the medium. The phenomenon is a common feature of many bacteria including Clostridium sporogenes and Vibrio alginolyticus.
