Quantitative genetics of female choice in an ultrasonic pyralid moth, Achroia grisella: variation and evolvability of preference along multiple dimensions of the male advertisement signal
Article Abstract:
Quantitative genetics of female mating choices in an ultrasonic pyralid moth, Achroia grisella have been studied. Evolvability and variation of preference along multiple dimensions of male mating signals were considered. Females differ in relative importance they give several signal characters in mate assessment. Importance of careful preparation of test signals and experimental design is brought out for measuring individual variation in female preference along multiple signal dimensions.

Transinfection of Wolbachia in the Mediterranean flour moth, Ephestia kuehniella, by embryonic microinjection
Article Abstract:
Wolbachia transinfection by embryonic microinjection has been studied in Ephestia kuehniella. Two stains of E. kuehniella from two cities express different levels of cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI). Experiments were carried out using embryonic microinjection after original Wolbachia had been wiped out using tetracycline. The level of CI in the studied strains appears to be from Wolbachia.

Meiotic pairing of sex chromosome fragments and its relation to atypical transmission of a sex-linked marker in Ephestia kuehniella (Insecta: Lepidoptera)
Article Abstract:
Meiotic pairing of sex chromosome fragments is discussed relative to atypical transmission of a sex-linked marker in the flour moth Ephestia kuehniella. The conclusion is that Z(super.dz+) fragments may persist as long as they have active kinetochore elements.
