Quantitative immunocapture PCR assay for detection of Campylobacter jejuni in foods
Article Abstract:
Research describes the development of an immunocapture PCR technique for the detection of Campylobacter jejuni in contaminated foods. Results show that the technique enables direct detection of the bacteria without enrichment and takes approximately 8h. The assay detects one cell in one milliliter of sample.

Determination of the sensitivity of a rapid Escherichia coli O157:H7 assay for testing 375-gram composite samples
Article Abstract:
Research describes the development of an immunoassay for the detection of Escherichia coli in ground beef samples. Data indicate that a combination of an immunomagnetic separation technique and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay detects very low levels of E.coli O157:H7 in ground beef samples.

Magnetic bead capture eliminates PCR inhibitors in samples collected from the airborne environment, permitting detection of Pneumocystis carinii DNA
Article Abstract:
A technique is presented for DNA capture in outdoor air samples which removes environmental inhibitors, thereby preserving the sensitivity of the 16S polymerase chain reaction method for Pneumocystis carinii. Its application in health care for those susceptible to pneumonia is also discussed.
