RNA length defines RNA export pathway
Article Abstract:
mRNAs and major spliceosomal U snRNAs have many structural similarities to the different RNAs, yet they are exported by distinct factors. It is shown that the export switch depends on the length of the insertion but not on the position, indicating unequivocally that the switch is the result of the RNA length.

Structural and biochemical analyses of DNA and RNA binding by a bifunctional homing endonuclease and group I intron splicing factor
Article Abstract:
The crystal structure of a bifunctional group I intron-splicing factor and homing endonuclease, termed the I-Ani I maturase, is determined in complex with its DNA target. DNA recognition by I-Ani I is further studied using nucleoside deletion and DMS modification interference analyses.

MicroRNAs in the Drosophila bithorax complex
Article Abstract:
The presence of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the Drosophila bithorax complex is investigated. The hairpin precursor of the present iab-4 noncoding RNA is found to be deleted by the process of gene conversion.
