Reactivation of latent human cytomegalovirus by allogenic stimulation of blood cells from healthy donors
Article Abstract:
The reactivation of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) was performed to determine its detrimental effects on blood transplant and AIDS patients and also in congenital birth defects that it may cause. Results show that infectious virus is present in myeloid lineage cell phenotype from culturing allogeneically stimulated adherent monocyte-derived macrophages. Thus, it is proven that allogenic stimulation triggers the reactivation of a true latent state of HCMV in myeloid lineage cells which produces blood.

The human cytomegalovirus chemokine receptor US28 mediates vascular smooth muscle cell migration
Article Abstract:
The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) chemokine receptor US28, which has been found to mediate vascular smooth muscle cell migration, is discussed. HCMV infection of primary arterial smooth muscle cells (SMCs) results in significant cellular migration. If the chemokine receptor is ablated, SMC migration stops. Expression of the viral homolog is the only thing that will rescue the migration. HCMV can be linked to acceleration of vascular disease.

The role of chemokines in regulating cell migration during humoral immune responses
Article Abstract:
Regulation of cell migration and chemokines in humoral immune responses are discussed in this review article which deals with trafficking of cells cooperating in immune system development. A high degree of cell motility is important in cell maturation and immune responses. The cell migration is controlled by multistep processes.
