Resuscitation of 'non-culturable' cells from aged cultures of Campylobacter jejuni
Article Abstract:
The mechanisms that mediate the survival and morphological alteration of Campylobacter jejuni cells in the stationary phase were analyzed in aged stationary phase batch cultures under static conditions. Analysis of oxygen-deprived, stationary phase batch cultures of Campylobacter jejuni cells static conditions indicated the presence of high fractions of surviving cells that were in an injured or latent state. However, the size of the latent fraction was dependent on the multiplication of residual viable cells during the regassing of the spent culture.

Robustness of cellular functions
Article Abstract:
Robustness, the ability to maintain performance in the face of perturbations and uncertainty, is a long-recognized key property of living systems. The cellular robustness is investigated to illustrate the understanding of robustness in cellular functions.
