Ordered recruitment of chromatin modifying and general transcription factors to the IFN-beta promoter
Article Abstract:
Research discusses the linkage between histone acetylation and chromatin remodeling with reference to IFN-beta promoter. Results indicate that transcription activation is mediated by IFN-beta-enhanceosome, initially recruiting GCN5 complex to acetylate the nucleosome, which in turn recruits SWI/SNF with the help of CBP leading to chromatin remodeling.

Virus induction of human IFN-beta gene expression requires the assembly of an enhanceosome
Article Abstract:
A higher order transcription enhancer complex (enhanceosome), a nucleoprotein complex, is necessary for the increase in transcription of the interferon-beta gene in response to viral infections. The complex contains three transcription factors and the high mobility group protein HMG I(Y). The formation of the complex requires a helical interaction between the transcription factor binding regions. HMG I(Y) binds to the transcription factors and controls cooperative binding among the factors.

Reversal of intrinsic DNA bends in the IFN-beta gene enhancer by transcription factors and the architectural protein HMG I(Y)
Article Abstract:
Binding of the transcription factor NF-kappa-B and the activating transfer factor ATF-2/c-Jun to the enhanceosome positive regulatory domains (PRDs) PRDII and PRDIV respectively changes the DNA curvature of the PRDs. The high mobility group protein HMG I(Y) alters the structure of these complexes. The conformational changes increase protein-protein interaction in the enhanceosome. The enhanceosome participates in the transcriptional activation of the interferon-beta gene in response to viral infection.
