Partial purification and characterization of mold antigens commonly found in foods
Article Abstract:
Enzymatic digestion and competitive inhibition tests with different sugar derivatives demonstrated that galactosyl residues with beta linkages were immunodominant for Aspergillus, Geotrichum and Cladosporium antigens and manosyl residues with alpha linkages were immunodominant for mucor antigens. These antigens had 10 to 50% proteins as part of the active site, since protease digestion decreased antigenic activity. Geotrichum, Cladosporiumand Aspergillus antigens had glucose, galactose and mannose in them while mucorantigens had fucose.

Production of Trichoderma reesei cellulases on glucose-containing media
Article Abstract:
The fungus Trichoderma reesei produces and releases the enzyme cellobiohydrolase I and the endoglucanase I catalytic core domain when grown in medium containing glucose. The production of the proteins was facilitated by the promoters of the elongation factor 1-alpha, tef1, and an unidentified gene for cDNA1. Of these different promoters, the gene for cDNA produced the most amount of proteins, at 50 to 100 milligrams per liter.

Characterisation and differentiation of filamentous fungi based on fatty acid composition
Article Abstract:
Different species of filamentous fungi are differentiated according to their fatty acid composition which helps in characterisation of the species. The sterile forms have distinct fatty acid profiles. Statistically different species have similar fatty acid composition. The differences in the fatty acid composition occur at the intraspecific level. The culture temperature and age affect the fatty acid composition.
