The proteasome regulates the UV-induced activation of the AP-1-like transcription factor Gcn4
Article Abstract:
The proteasome has been found to regulate UV-induced activation of Gcn4, AP-1-like transcription factor, in stress-mediated pathways. Characterization of RPN11 has been carried out. It is the gene of a regulatory subunit of the proteasome and acts doewnstream of RAS2. This research communication addresses this topic.

Internal ribosome entry sites in eukaryotic mRNA molecules
Article Abstract:
Eukaryotic mRNA molecules and internal ribosome entry sites (IRESs) in them are discussed in this review article with attention to molecular mechanisms in initiation. Known mechanisms of translation initiation are covered briefly. Use of various mechanisms by specific mRNAs to make translation possible in such situations as apoptosis, mitosis, hypoxia, and some viral infections in which translation of most mRNA is repressed is considered.
