Sequence data for two large-subunit rRNA genes from an Asian strain of Alexandrium catenella
Article Abstract:
PCR studies reveal two different small-subunit rRNA genes in the toxic isolate CCMP1493, which is an Asian strain of the dinoflagellate Alexandrium catenella. Studies show that the smaller subunit has been formed by deletion rather than by another isolate. The LsurRNA gene sequence data for the Alexandrium species confirms the heterogeneity of the group, although sequence similarities fail to prove any morphological similarities. The sequence data of CCMP1493 differs from the western North American isolates of A. catenella and the tropical Asian isolates of A. tamarensis.

Intestinal integrity and Akkermansia muciniphila, a mucin-degrading member of the intestinal microbiota present in infants, adults, and the elderly
Article Abstract:
The quantification of the mucin-degrading bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila found in the human intestinal tract is demonstrated. The bacterium colonizes in early life, develops in a year in adults and decreases in the elderly.
