Simulations of human colonization history
Article Abstract:
The demic diffusion model of dispersal suggests that individuals in a population undergoing logistic growth move undirected to adjacent areas and form demes that are locally interbreeding subpopulations and these demes exchange migrants at a constant rate resulting in colonization that progresses radically outward from the point of origin and results in mutations. An estimate of the age of a mutation from its genealogy can be used to place the origin on the line that connects the beginning and the end of an expansion passing through the centroid of the mutation.

Population structure and colony composition of two Zootermopsis nevadensis subspecies
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to identify diagnostic genetic differences between the Zootermopsis nevadensis sub-species and to compare the breeding structure of Zootermopsis nevadensis subspecies to other termite species. The results suggest that breeding structure vary significantly among termite taxa.

Microsatellite null alleles in parentage analysis
Article Abstract:
Null alleles have consistently challenged population genetics. Computer simulations and analytical treatments are employed to determine the way which microsatellite null alleles impact molecular parentage analyses.
