Sir-Ku-itous routes to make ends meet
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to better understand how the Ku and Sir proteins are involved in the normal telomere function and structure, prevention of end-to-end fusions and implicated in the end fusion process. Experiments with the Saccharomyces cerevisiae reveal that the Ku and Sir proteins at the telomeres tend to relocalize away from the subtelomeric regions and diffuse themselves all over the nucleus in the presence of DNA damage.

Solution structure of the CIDE-N domain of CIDE-B and a model of CIDE-N/CIDE-N interactions in the DNA fragmentation pathway of apoptosis
Article Abstract:
Results describe the structure of CIDE-N of human CIDE-B protein and show its interaction with CIDE-N domains of both 40 kDA capsule-activated DNA fragmentation factor (DFF40) and the inhibitor DFF45. Role of this novel bipolar interaction in the regulation of downstream events of apoptosis is discussed.
