Somatic mutations of microsatellite loci in western redcedar (Thuja plicata: Cupressaceae)
Article Abstract:
A per-generation somatic mutation rate for microsatellite was estimated in western red cedar (Thuja plicata) in a sample of eighty tree representatives with average size, age and reproductive features from four natural populations of southwestern British Columbia. The estimated mutation rate was 6.3 X 10(sup -1) mutations per locus per generation, with a 95% confidence interval of 3.0 X 10(sup -5) to 4.0 X 10(sup -3) mutations per locus.

Source populations of Quercus glauca in the last glacial age in Taiwan revealed by nuclear microsatellite markers
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to study genetic differentiation between populations of Querus glauca in Taiwan using nuclear microsatellite markers to infer the potential refugium in the last glaciation stage. It was found that the southern part of Taiwan showed the highest population genetic divergence compared to all the others which suggested the existence of a potential major refugium.

Heritability of phenolics in Quercus laevis inferred using molecular markers
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the use of microsatellite markers in a long-lived oak tree, Quercus laevis, to determine the quantitative inheritance of phenotypes within a naturally occurring population.
