The Aspergillus nidulans cysA gene encodes a novel type of serine O-acetyltransferase which is homologous to homoserine O-acetyltransferases
Article Abstract:
The Aspergillus nidulans cysA gene has been found to encode a novel type of serine O-acetyltransferase. It is homologous to homoserine O-acetyltransferases. That the CYSA protein is analogous to serine O-acetyltranferases is proposed. That is, it catalyses the same reaction but has an independent evolutionary origin.

Morphological characterization of Aspergillus nidulans: growth, septation and fragmentation
Article Abstract:
Aspergillus nidulans has been characterized morphologically with consideration of growth, septation and fragmentation. The parental strain A28 and the sepA null mutant were compared. It is known that the sepA gene does affect the septation process in A. nidulans.

Species-specific inhibition of fungal protein synthesis by sordarin: identification of a sordarin-specificity region in eukaryotic elongation factor 2
Article Abstract:
A sordarin-specificity region in eukaryotic elongation factor 2 (eEF2) has been identified in study of species-specific inhibition of fungal protein synthesis by sordarin. The cEF2s from various sordarin-sensitive and -insensitive species were cloned and characterized. Amino acid residues at three positions in fungal eEF2 were mainly responsible the differences seen in sordarin's spectrum. The corresponding residues in mammalian eEF2 are adequate to give a sordarin-insensitive phenotype to S. cerevisiae eEF2.
