Sudden substrate dilution induces a higher rate of citric acid production by Aspergillus niger
Article Abstract:
During the citric acid fermentation by using Aspergillus niger the production is efficiently increased, by a sudden dilution of the substrate at the initial formation of the citric acid. Even after dilution the start of the acid excretion is postponed, but the fermentation time is halved. The hypo-osmotic shock created by dilution promotes the increase in intracellular cyclic adenylic acid levels which are the osmoregulators.

A spontaneous change in the intracellular cyclic AMP level in Aspergillus niger is influenced by the sucrose concentration in the medium and by light
Article Abstract:
The spontaneous change in the intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) level in Aspergillus niger influenced by the sucrose concentration in the medium and by light was studied. The intracellular cyclic AMP level was observed during the early stages of A. niger under conditions yielding large amounts of citric acid. Results show that changes in cAMP concentration are important in regulating metabolism.

Purification and characterization of a dimethoate-degrading enzyme of Aspergillus niger ZHY256, isolated from sewage
Article Abstract:
The properties of a fungal enzyme from Aspergillus niger ZHY256 that can degrade dimethoate are described. This enzyme could be used in a cell-free system to degrade organophosphorus pesticides.
