TSF1 to TSF6, required for silencing the Saccharomyces cerevisiae GAL genes, are global regulatory genes
Article Abstract:
Researchers isolated and characterized recessive mutations in six nuclear genes, TSF 1 to TSF 6, that impede silencing of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae GAL1 and GAL10 gene expression. TSF genes encode global controlling elements. TSF1 to TSF6 mutations derepressed expression from yeast CYC-GAL hybrid promoters resulted in pleiotropic faults in cell development, mating and sporulation. TSF1 to TSF6 encode elements that regulate the role of the fundamental RNA polymerase II transcriptional machinery.

Molecular analysis of 36 mutations at the mouse pink-eyed dilution (p) locus
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the effects of mutations at the mouse pink-eyed dilution locus on the induction of selected loci in the mammalian genome. The p locus of the mouse was analyzed using molecular techniques. The types of lesions, number of p-region markers deleted or rearranged, regions of overlap of deletion mutations and genetic distances between loci were determined.

Complementation analyses for 45 mutations encompassing the pink-eyed dilution (p) locus of the mouse
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize the homozygous and heterozygous phenotypes for 45 new pink-eyed dilution locus mutations, most of which are radiation-induced. These mutations, which have been shown to affect the survival of the mouse at various stages of development, were examined using cytogenetic techniques. Five functional units of compound heterozygotes were identified.
