Tasered pigs were anaesthetized and used as models for human which allowed direct access to the rubs for the Taser darts, which are normally fired but remain connected to the Taser, transmitting a charge to the target. The shift to work in humans would likely come as relief to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which has argued that enough people have been hit with stuns guns to enable collection of relevant information on safety.
