Tctex2: a sperm tail surface protein mapping to the t-complex
Article Abstract:
The meiotic drive, found in a number of organisms from yeast to mammals, can be studied via the transmission ration distortion in t-bearing male mice. Tctex-2 (t -complex testis expressed 2) is involved in the transmission ratio distortion in mouse t-haplotype. Tctex2 maps to the t-complex and the protein it encodes is found on the the sperm tail. Sterile t/t mice express Tctex2 much less than the wild type because of the difference in the gene copy number so that less protein is synthesized in the sterile mice. Many deletions and base pair transitions are seen in the coding sequence of the t-form.

Is there a Brachyury the Second? Analysis of a transgenic mutation involved in notochord maintenance in mice
Article Abstract:
The regulation and expression of a new phenotype mapping to the t-complex, designated as Brachyury the Second (T2), is described using transgenic mice. Unlike Brachyury (T) homozygotes, T2 homozygotes make posterior somites and live longer during development before they die. Transgene insertion that maps to the region of T showed that mutations have no effect on transcription of that locus. These results confirm that a genotype similar to the original T gene is involved in the development of the chordamesoderm.

Primitive streak formation in mice is preceded by localized activation of Brachyury and Wnt3
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that localized gene expression in the posterior epiblast that forms the primitive streak in mouse embryos results from local cell-cell interactions instead of a regionalized, radial pattern of expression in proximal epiblast.
