Tectonic, a novel regulator of the Hedgehog pathway required for both activation and inhibition
Article Abstract:
The identification of a novel protein that participates in Hedgehog (Hh)-mediated patterning of the neutral tube is reported. Characterization of Tectonic Sonic hedgehog and Tectonic Smoothened double mutations indicates that Tectonic plays an additional role in repressing Hh pathway activity.

Palmitoylation is required for the production of a soluble multimeric Hedgehog protein complex and long-range signaling in vertebrates
Article Abstract:
A study on the role of Hedgehog(Hh) signaling in multiple aspects of embryonic development is conducted. The results reveal that Hh palmitoylation is essential for generation of a soluble multimeric protein complex, which constitutes the major active component for Hh signaling.
