The CBF(beta) subunit is essential for CBF(alpha)2 (AML1) function in vivo
Article Abstract:
The Cbfb gene, the non-DNA-binding subunit of the heterodimeric core-binding factor (CBF), is essential for embryogenesis. Specifically, it is found to be required for CBF(alpha)2 function in vivo. Homozygous mutation of the Cbfb gene is found to result in the same range of abnormalities observed in Cbfa2-deficient mice, including embryonic lethality at midgestation due to hemorrhaging in the central nervous system and inhibition of fetal liver hematopoiesis.

Impaired viability and profound block in thymocyte development in mice lacking the adaptor protein SLP-76
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the functions of the SLP-76 adaptor protein in T cell development and activation in mice. Polymerase chain reaction was carried out to amplify the cDNA encoding murine SLP-76 while lysates from mice and thymocytes were separated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Results indicated that the SLP-76 obtains all pre-T-cell antigen receptor signals that influence the development and expansion of DP thymocytes.
