Translational features of human alpha 2b interferon production in Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
The effect of rare arginine codons, single and clustered, located at the mRNA 5' end, as well as the effect of the inherent secondary structures, on the yield of human interferons (IFN)-alpha2b (hu-IFN-alpha2b) in Escherichia coli was determined. The differences observed among various gene variants indicate that codon usage, Shine-Dalgarno-like sequences, and mRNA secondary structure contributes to the performance of E. coli translation machinery.

Analysis of gene expression in Escherichia coli in response to changes of growth-limiting nutrient in chemostat cultures
Article Abstract:
The gene expression in Escherichia coli, which is grown in glucose-limited or ammonia-limited chemostat cultures by DNA microarray analyses is studied for determining the responses to the change of the growth-limiting nutrient in chemostat cultures. The transcriptional difference between the two nutrient-limited growth conditions may be reduced by the increase in the growth rate.
