Photosynthetic bradyrhizobia are natural endophytes of the African wild reice Oryza breviligulata
Article Abstract:
Researcher have discovered that nitrogen-fixing Bradyrhizobia can colonize the African wild rice Oryza breviligulata. Previously, this organism was only associated with the legume Aeschynomene sensitiva. Its colonization of rice could enhance cultivated rice production.

Nickel resistance determinants in Bradyrhizobium strains from nodules of the endemic New Caledonia legume Serianthes calycia
Article Abstract:
Bradyrhizobium strains, which are isolated in New Caledonia from nodules of the endemic legume Serianthes calycina growing in nickel-rich soils, have grown in the presence of Ni[Cl.sub.2]. The construction of cnrA mutant has shown that the cnr operon has determined the high nickel resistance in Bradyrhizobium strains.

The Sesbania root symbionts Sinorhizobium saheli and S. teranga bv. sesbaniae can form stem nodules on Sesbania rostrata, although they are less adapted to stem nodulation than Azorhizobium caulinodans
Article Abstract:
The stem and root nodulation of Sesbania rostrata and other Sesbania species was analyzed to determine the symbiotic properties of the African legume shrub and Azorhizobium caulidonans. Shrubs belonging to the Azorhizobium and Sinorhizobium genera such as Azorhizobium caulidonans, Azorhizobium sp. and Sinorhizobium saheli are capable of initiating root and stem nodulation in Sesbania species. However, the ability of Sinorhizobium strains to form stem nodules was dependent on the nodulation status of the plant while stem nodulation by Azorhizobium was not affected by previous root inoculation.
