The flagellin N-methylase gene fliB and an adjacent serovar-specific IS200 element in Salmonella typhimurium
Article Abstract:
The IS200-containing chromosomal region located between the fliC and fliA gene of Salmonella typhimurium LT2 was analyzed to characterize the evolutionary significance and molecular genetic features of the IS200 locus. Sequence analysis of the phenotype associated with an upstream open reading frame that was equivalent to the nml determinant that was mapped to the region between fliC and fliA indicated the presence of a gene designated as fliB. Furthermore, analysis of the IS200-containing region indicated the absence of terminal inverted repeats.

Identification of a 95 kDa putative adhesin from Actinomyces serovar WVA963 strain PK1259 that is distinct from type 2 fimbrial subunits
Article Abstract:
The role of the type II fimbriae strain of Actinomyces serovar WVA963 strain PK1259 in lactose-inhibitable coaggregations with Streptococcus strains was analyzed in spontaneous coaggregation-defective (Cog-) mutants. Analysis of Cog- Actinomycetes PK3092 strain indicated the presence of type II fimbriae synthesis which promoted lactose-inhibitable coaggregations. Furthermore, a biochemically functional adhesin was also detected on the cell surface of Actinomycetes serovar WVA963 strain PK2407 in the absence of type II fimbriae.

Identification of O-antigen polymerase transcription and translation start signals and visualization of the protein in Salmonella enterica serovar Typhinurium
Article Abstract:
O-antigen polymerase transcription and translation start signals and discussed with attention to the protein in Salmonella enterica serovar Typhinurium. The wzy (ital) transitional startpoint was at first identified by primer extension. Then the wzy (ital) promoter strength in Escherichia coli K-12 was measured and found to exceed that of the induced lac (ital) promoter.
