The homeotic target gene centrosomin encodes an essential centrosomal component
Article Abstract:
The centrosomin (cnn) homeotic target gene is an essential component of the centrosome for segment specific morphogenetic functions. The cnn monomers have an intrinsic affinity to the centrosome. Inhibited cellular proliferation was detected in embryos that lack zygotic cnn expression and cnn somatic clones. The lack of cnn disrupts the organization of cortical actin filaments which are vital in maintaining nuclear spacing of syncytial-stage embryos. The cnn gene also facilitates in multiple microtubule-dependent developmental processes.

Beyond the nucleosome: epigenetic aspects of position-effect variegation in Drosophila
Article Abstract:
Several models explaining the role of heterochromatin in inducing position effect variegation (PEV) on the euchromatic genes of Drosophila have already been proposed. One example, the cis-spreading model, argues that heterochromatin results to transcriptional repression by blocking access to transcriptional machinery. Despite the model's advantages, additional studies are needed to develop models that would center on the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of PEV.

Net results of nucleolar dynamics
Article Abstract:
Previous studies have established that the nucleolus is the dedicated site for recombinant DNA transcription and ribosome biogenesis. Meanwhile, recent researches have found additional physiological roles for the nucleolus. It was observed that the nucleolus have certain mitotic and meiotic functions in cell cycle control and gene regulation. It was found that it serves as the site for both recruitment and exclusion of regulatory complexes.
