Cultivation of bacteria producing polyamino acids with liquid manure as carbon and nitrogen source
Article Abstract:
Bacillus licheniformis ATCC 9945 and Bacillus subtilis can both reduce the amount of ammonia in liquid manure by converting it into poly(gamma-D-glutamic acid). PGA is resistant to degradation and would therefore release the nitrogen very slowly.

Cloning and expression of a Ralstonia eutropha HF39 gene mediating indigo formation in Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
A 1,251-bp open reading frame was identified in Ralstonia eutropha HF39 which, when constructed in E. coli, produced an enzyme that hydroxylates indole to form indoxyl. Two molecules of indoxyl then dimerize to form the blue pigment indigo.

The methylcitric acid pathway in Ralstonia eutropha: new genes identified involved in propionate metabolism
Article Abstract:
Transposon5 mutagenesis studies reveal that in Ralstonia eutropha HF39, propionic acid metabolism is mediated by the methylcitric acid pathway. Data indicate that genes of the pathway occur in a cluster with prpR gene transcribing a gene product of approximately 71 kilodalton.
