The small heterodimer partner is a gonadal gatekeeper of sexual maturation in male mice
Article Abstract:
Small heterodimer partner (SHP), an atypical nuclear receptor inhibits the expression of steroidogenic genes and acts as gonadal gatekeeper of sexual maturation in male mice by playing a significant role in their testis. The analysis states that SHP keeps a check on the timing of male sexual maturation, as it plays a very important role in the metabolism of testicular androgen and retionic acid by slowing down the transcriptional activity of the retionic acid receptors.

Cellular and developmental control of O2 homeostasis by hypoxia-inducible factor 1x
Article Abstract:
Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) is a major regulator of developmental and cellular O2 homeostasis. The factor is induced as a response to physiologically relevant levels of hypoxia, which is an important physiological and developmental stimulus. mRNAs encoding glucose transporters and glycolytic enzymes were found reduced in embryonic cells with HIF-1x deficiency.

Insulin secretion: SIRT4 gets in on the act
Article Abstract:
SIRT4 is a mitochondrial sirtuin regulating glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) activity through ADP-ribosylation. Findings suggest that SIRT4 controls insulin secretion in pancreatic [beta] cells in response to amino acids, fitting the notion that sirtuins control the mitochondrial energy supply.
