Epiphytic cyanobacteria on Chara vulgaris are the main contributors to N2 fixation in rice fields
Article Abstract:
The distribution of nitrogenase activity in the rice-soil system and the contribution of epiphytic cyanobacteria on rice plants and other macrophytes to this activity are analyzed in two locations in the rice fields of Valencia, Spain. The results indicate that the macrophyte Chara vulgaris, which is usually considered a weed in the context of rice cultivation, may help maintain soil N fertility in the rice field ecosystem.

Insecticidal Bacillus thuringiensis silences Erwinia carotovora virulence by a new form of microbial antagonism, signal interference
Article Abstract:
The Bacillus thuringiensis was studied to know more about this phenomenon. It was found that Bacillus thuringiensis suppressed the quorum-sensing-dependent virulence of plant pathogen Erwinia carotovora through a form of signal interference and microbial antagonism.
