The telomerase reverse transcriptase: components and regulation
Article Abstract:
Telomeres act as protective caps at the ends of chromosomes and facilitate their complete replication as well. Synthesis of telomeric DNA by telomerase serves to work against the consequence of partially conservative DNA replication. Telomerase reverse transcriptase, the reverse transcriptase catalytic component, has been identified and characterized. Some other potential protein subunits of telomerase have roles. Without telomerase a cell will eventually die, although there are other ways to maintain the ends of linear chromosomes.

Which end: dissecting Ku's function at telomeres and double-strand breaks
Article Abstract:
This article is a preview of the research in which the role of the Ku heterodimer, mediating double-strand DNA repair, in the regulation of telomere length. Research shows that in yeasts, Ku interacts with the telomerase RNA in order to enable telomerase to act at the site of telomeres.

Sexual dimorphism of hepatic gene expression: novel biological role of KRAB zinc finger repressors revealed
Article Abstract:
The authors discuss the study on Kruppel-associated box (KRAB) zinc finger repressors. The topics include the analysis of sex limitation regulation by KRAB genes, KRAB gene which act as KRAB zinc finger repressor, and gene silencing derepression by growth hormone.
