The translocating RecBCD enzyme stimulates recombination by directing RecA protein onto ssDNA in a chi-regulated manner
Article Abstract:
The RecBCD enzyme intiated double-stranded DNA break repair and homologous recombination in Escherichia coli by unwinding and degrading DNA via a process that was mediated by cis-acting DNA elements at chi sites. The RecBCD enzyme mediated the repair of DNA breaks by promoting the recognition of recombination hot spot chi. Furthermore, the RecBCD enzyme coordinated the loading of RecA protein onto a specific strand of DNA in a chi-regulated manner.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae Mer3 helicase stimulates 3'-5' heteroduplex extension by Rad51: implications for crossover control in meiotic recombination
Article Abstract:
The Mer3 helicase in the DNA strand stimulates DNA heteroduplex extension by Rad51 in saccharomyces cerevisiae. It thus initiates a step required for crossover recombinant product formation.
