Thermostability of ochratoxin A in wheat under two moisture conditions

Article Abstract:

Examination of the decomposition of ochratoxin A (OTA) as a function of temperature and moisture reveals that decomposition of OTA at 100 and 150 degrees Celsius is favored by the presence of water, while at 200 degrees Celsius, presence of water inhibits the decomposition. Temperatures between 100 and 250 degrees Celsius fail to perform the complete decomposition of OTA.

Improving the thermostability of raw-starch-digesting amylase from a Cytophaga sp. by site-directed mutagenesis

Article Abstract:

The half-life of the heat-stable raw-starch-digesting mutant amylase, at 65 C, is 20-fold higher than that of wild-type enzyme. The mutant does not contain amino acid residues R178 and G179, pH stable retaining 41% activity at pH 3.0, while the wild-type is completely inactivated. The thermostability of the mutant is conferred by a calcium-independent mechanism.

Rapid engineering of bacterial reporter gene fusions by using red recombination

Article Abstract:

Red recombination technique was used for the rapid generation of reporter gene fusions in single copies at defined positions in bacterial genomes. Results suggest that the red recombination approach for generation of reporter fusions is rapid and also overcomes the current limitations of transposon mutagenesis or reporter plasmids.
