Three distinct IL-2 signaling pathways mediated by bcl-2, c-myc, and Ick cooperate in hematopoietic cell proliferation
Article Abstract:
In addition to c-fos/c-jun and c-myc proto-oncogene mediated interleukin-2 (IL-2) signaling pathways, a third pathway, mediated by the bcl-2 proto-oncogene, has been identified in the hematopoietic cell line BAF-B03. In this cell line expression of any two among the IckF505 (an activated form of p56Ick), Bcl-2 or c-Myc pathways is enough for cellular proliferation. The expression of p56Ick alone is insufficient to promote cellular proliferation but cooperation between p56Ick and c-myc or bcl-2 can promote proliferation. Activation of p56Ick and bcl-2 has been shown to suppress apoptosis.

Pyk2 is a downstream mediator of the IL-2 receptor-coupled Jak signaling pathway
Article Abstract:
Activation of Janus-family protein tyrosine kinases (Jak PTKs) associated with receptors is used by numerous cytokines to transmit transmit signals to the inside of the cell. Research suggests that Pyk2, the nonreceptor, is a part of the Jak-mediated interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2) signaling pathway. Pyk2 is seen to be activated after IL-2 stimulation in a Jak-dependent way. For lymphocytes to proliferate, ligands must activate Jak1 and Jak3 PTKs.

The IL-2/IL-2 receptor system: a current overview
Article Abstract:
An update of the research concerning the interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R) system is presented. The major development has been the newly identified superfamily of cytokine receptors that includes IL-2R beta and IL-2R gamma. Some of their specific issues of relevance are IL-2R beta's role in tyrosine kinase activation, IL-2R gamma's importance in gene mapping and the presence of other ligands in the IL-2/IL-2 receptor system.
