Tumor induction and tissue atrophy in mice lacking E2F-1
Article Abstract:
The inactivation of E2F-1 genes by homologous recombination produced testicular atrophy, exocrine gland dysplasia and tumorigenesis in 15-month old mice. The development of reproductive tract sarcomas, lung tumors and lymphomas in E2F-1-deficient mice indicate the tumor-suppressive functions of E2F-1. E2F-1 normally suppress genes that activate genetic inhibitors of metastasis. The exocrine cells of E2F-1-deficient mice exhibit large and doubled nuclei due to an uncontrolled DNA replication without cell division. The overexpression of E2F-1 stimulate cell proliferation and oncogenetic activity.

Dynamic regulation of the Ras pathway via proteolysis of the NF1 tumor suppressor
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on NF1 tumor suppressor mutations. The authors demonstrate that encoded protein neurofibromin is dynamically regulated by the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.
