Ty3 transposes in mating populations of yeast: a novel transposition assay for Ty3
Article Abstract:
Use of the position specificity of integration exhibited by Ty3, a retrotransposon of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, helps develop a novel target plasmid into which integration of Ty3 can be selected. This direct selection facilitates the estimation of transposition of unmarked Ty3 elements and enables the recovery of transposition products for further analysis. This transposition array helps analyze the transposition of Ty3 in mating populations of yeast and evaluate the rate of transposition of Ty3.

Donor locus selection during Saccharomyces cerevisiae mating type interconversion responds to distant regulatory signals
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine mating type interconversion in homothallic strains of Saccharomoyces cerevisiae. The study assumes that directed transposition of a mating type allele from either HML or HMR donor loci generates such interconversion. Experiments were performed to determine characteristics cells identify in distinguishing the donor loci. Results show that chromosomal positional information is used by cells for identification.

Mutations affecting donor preference during mating type interconversion in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
The mating type from alpha to a or a to alpha is converted by Saccharomyces cerevisiae homothallic strains by replacing the mating type at the expressor locus. The mating type specifies a genetic information and the replaced mating type specifies on opposite information. The mating types were made up of two different loci, the HMR or the HML which are cryptic mating type information which is copied and inserted in the MAT.
