Unfounded assumptions about diet of the Cooper's Hawk
Article Abstract:
The assumption that the diet of the Cooper's Hawks (Accipiter cooperii) is made up mainly of avian prey is questioned. Most of the prey brought to nestlings were young birds, but biomass calculations were based on adult bird biomass. Furthermore, observations during the breeding season of ground foraging animals being the dominant prey have also biased assumptions towards prey of high "agility". A revision of assumptions regarding the diet of the Cooper's Hawk is proposed because of the methodological, seasonal and other limitations in previous studies.

Prey of Peregrine Falcons breeding in West Greenland
Article Abstract:
A study was done of the diet of peregrine falcons. Four small passerines, Lapland Longspur, Northern Wheatear, Common Redpoll and Snow Bunting provided more than 80% of the delivered prey items as revealed by 492 hours of observation at two eyries. In terms of frequency of occurrence and biomass, longspur was the main prey species. Direct observation of prey deliveries and collection of prey remains was applied to determine prey of breeding Peregrine Falcons in West Greenland.

Lifetime nesting area fidelity in male Cooper's hawks in Wisconsin
Article Abstract:
Breeding Cooper's Hawks were trapped at 86 nesting areas at study sites near Stevens Point and Kettle Moraine State Forest, both in Wisconsin state, to document male long-term fidelity to the same nesting area. In addition, adult birds were also captured in 28 nesting areas for further data support. The study's extensive 16-year coverage yielded no adult breeding dispersal for the hawks, indicating their lifetime nesting area fidelity.
