Comparative study of the cyclization reactions of three bacterial cyclomaltodextrin glucanotransferases
Article Abstract:
Cyclomaltodextrin glucanotransferases from different bacteria have different rates of conversion of large cyclic alpha-1,4-glucans to smaller cycloamyloses. Different enzymes also produce different amounts of CD6, CD7, and CD8 cycloamyloses.

Use of random and saturation mutageneses to improve the properties of Thermus aquaticus amylomaltase for efficient production of cycloamyloses
Article Abstract:
Amylomaltase from Thermus aquaticus catalyzes intramolecular transglycosylation of alpha-1,4 glucans to produce cyclic alpha-1,4 glucans (cycloamyloses) with degrees of polymerization of 22 and higher. Although the amylomaltase mainly catalyzes the transglycosylation reaction, it also has weak hydrolytic activity, which results in a reduction in the yield of the cycloamyloses.

Thermus aquaticus ATCC 33923 amylomaltase gene cloning and expression and enzyme characterization: production of cycloamylose
Article Abstract:
The amylomaltase gene from the thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus ATCC 33923 has been cloned and sequenced. Amylomaltase is responsible for catalyzing glucan transfer from one alpha-1,4-glucan to another alpha-1,4-glucan or to glucose in T. aquaticus. It has been found that the gene has an open reading frame made up of 1,503 nucleotides and encodes a polypeptide that is 500 amino acids long. It molecular mass has been determined to be 57,221 Da and its amino acid sequence is similar to that of potato disproportionating enzyme.
